What is so good about the BabyStart Baby Travel Cot?
The Baby-Start travel cot offers exceptional value and quality for money. Here are its good points:
Most customers found the instructions simple to follow and the cot easy to put up. The sides snap securely into place that parents and carers have the peace of mind that their baby is safe, and the base appears very sturdy and offers firm support. When not in use, it is simple to fold down the cot and store it away (the measurements for the travel cot in its folded down form are provided above). The cot comes with a handy storage bag which also makes the cot easier to transport.
The instructions are printed on the base of the cot so if you haven’t had to erect it for a while, or if you are lending it to a family member, you can be confident that it is still being put up properly.
The materials used are wiped clean, so it easy to keep the travel cot hygienic.
Unlike many similar models, all 4 sides of the travel cot are mesh which makes it absolutely ideal for use as a playpen. Where ever you are, your baby will have the reassurance of being able to see you and you will be able to keep a close eye on your baby at play.
What are the negatives?
The provided mattress is on the thin side, but this is also a problem with many of the baby travel cots which retail for 2 or 3 times the price. It should also be noted that a hard sleeping surface is more an issue from a parent or carer’s point of view than that of the infant. Whereas most children and adults are used to – and prefer – a fairly springy surface, babies need much firmer support. So what may look uncomfortable to you may be providing adequate support to the baby and be perfectly comfortable for them.
What are the best alternatives?
If you are looking a cheap, basic travel cot there are some good alternatives to the BabyStart travel cot. We recommend the Hauck Dream n Play travel cot. This currently retails at £31 on Amazon, with free delivery, and is rated 5 stars by customers.
